Below is a screen shot of an email received today pretending to be from Halifax Bank.
Like all of these so called ‘Phishing’ emails it contains a link to a fake Halifax site where you are invited to enter your log in details, when you do this the scammers record your details and then use them to log in to your real Halifax account.
Halifax have a page on their website here http://www.halifax.co.uk/aboutonline/security/common-threats/phishing/ which gives lots of advise on recognising and reporting suspicious activity.
The general rule of thumb is NEVER click on links in emails you receive and ALWAYS ensure you are visiting your banks genuine website by opening your browser and typing your banks website address directly into the address bar.
